This Privacy Policy explains how City Rest collects, uses, and protects your information. It applies to the City Rest mobile app and this website, which together we refer to as "the Service."
Who we are
City Rest is a UK-based sole trader business. You can contact us at support@cityrest.org with any privacy questions or requests.
What information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication to sign you in via Apple, Google, or anonymous sign-in. Depending on the method you choose, we may receive your name and email address. If you sign in anonymously, no personal identifiers are collected at that stage.
App usage and content data
We store data related to your use of the Service, including which sessions you've played, your favorites, and your journal/mood check-in entries if you choose to use that feature. This is stored via Firebase (Firestore) and is linked to your account so it can sync across your devices.
Journal and mood data
If you use the optional journal or mood check-in feature, we store the ratings and any notes you choose to enter. This information is used only to show your own history back to you within the app, and is not used for any other purpose.
Subscription and payment information
Subscriptions are purchased and billed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which provides us with limited data such as your subscription tier, renewal date, and trial status, so we can grant you access to the content you've paid for.
Website analytics
This website (cityrest.org) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall visitor traffic. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not track individuals across websites or collect personally identifiable information — it provides us with aggregate statistics only, such as page views and general visit counts.
How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the app's core functionality, including your session history and favorites
- To manage your account and keep your subscription status accurate
- To let you review your own journal/mood history within the app
- To respond to support requests sent to us
- To understand overall usage of the app and website so we can improve them
- To comply with legal obligations
Who we share information with
We use the following third-party services to operate the Service, each of which processes limited data strictly to provide their part of the service:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and data storage (Firestore)
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
- Apple / Google — payment processing for subscriptions, via their respective app stores
- Cloudflare — website hosting and privacy-preserving analytics
We do not sell your personal information to any third party, and we do not share your journal or mood data with anyone for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data retention
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account through the app's settings, your associated data — including your journal entries, favorites, and session history — is permanently deleted.
Your rights
If you are located in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR / GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You can:
- Delete your account and all associated data directly within the app, under Settings → Delete Account
- Contact us at support@cityrest.org for any other request relating to your data
Children's privacy
City Rest is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Data security
We rely on the security infrastructure provided by Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google to protect your information, and we do not store payment details ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
